Our Physical Protection services run the gamut of what we generally refer to as Personnel Security Detail (psd), consisting of multiple to many security personnel whose primary responsibility is the defense, protection, and safety of the principal.

A close protection detail and bodyguard detail are very similar. The primary differences are between the U.K. and the U.S.A. term useage. In either case, there can be as few as one person dedicated to the mission (typical) to as many as three. Bodyguards and close protection teams also, typically, stay within an arm's reach of the principal. Or, as some would say, in their pocket. More derisively, in their hair.

In either case, the people involved in such a security detail should necessarily have much instruction, training, and on the ground experience with such matters. Maturity, character, adaptability, finesse, discipline, focus, mental acuity, physical prowess, and considerable attention to detail are a must. In such roles, merely having been in the military and or having been a police officer with a friend vouching for them is often not enough. Having attended a well-known ep school is also not enough. All the schools, classes, instruction and training one could want are a very good start, and often good enough to get one's foot in the door. But, experience is where it is at.

Additionally, the protective security specialist must be able to blend in to their environment while also being able to send, clearly, non-verbal messages to potential adversaries that messing with their client is a bad idea.

The people we utilize to protect you almost always have a military background in a combat arms M.O.S. (Military Occupational Skill). Most of our people will have also worked overseas in a high-risk/high-threat private security capacity. The instruction, training and the experiences gleaned from such experiences is nearly priceless.

At Skagit PSS, we want to earn your trust, and our money, by preventing a situation, not by creating nor inflaming one. For the protective security professional, a good day is a boring day!
